Charlie Butler - Gathering Dust CS
A long low drone leads you into Charlie Butler’s Gathering Dust and is joined by calm guitar notes, meandering their way along before settling on a loop and shedding ripples of tones into the fuzzy warmth. Each track builds gradually, not quite to a crescendo, but more to a saturation at which no more can be added, hovering at that point for a time before drifting back toward quiet.
Warmth is the key word with which to describe Gathering Dust, more specifically the kind of warmth of being inside on a cold day, as grey clouds drift and rainwater trickles down glass. Built up around the guitar refrains at their core, the two tracks of Gathering Dust are melodious and full without ever becoming dense. A calm and contemplative sonic blanket to wrap yourself in for just under half an hour.
